Today we're releasing the first version of our AI conversation bots.

These bots are capable of holding conversations with people within DMs and in text channels. You can grab their attention by mentioning or replying to them, OR just by saying the right words.. We'll go over all the features these bots currently have to offer in this post.

Behaviour

Each bot is able to be configured with its own behavioural instructions, such as knowledge about your community, it's name, what it should know about itself, and much more! While we support pure creativity, our AI bots MUST follow Baud & Discords TOS at all times.

Trigger Words

While you're able to mention the bot, you're also able to set trigger words which will cause the bot to respond without mentioning it. These trigger words can be anything you'd like, such as the bots name, frequently asked questions, and anything you can think of!

Multi-Model support

The AI bot can be powered by numerous AI providers, such as

  • OpenAI (GPT)

  • Groq

  • Google (Gemini)

  • Anthropic (Claude)

Want to spread out the demand? Multiple providers can be used. If you provide both an OpenAI and Gemini key, the bot will automatically cycle through them.

The AI that powers the bots are BRING YOUR OWN KEY! The bots will not function unless you provide your own API key from either providers.

Built-in Rate limits

Currently all AI bots have a hard-coded rate limit to prevent platform and usage abuse. The current rate limit is 80 messages per hour, with an active spam limit in place as well.

You are responsible for the appropriate usage of your bot.

FAQ & Important information

How can I prevent against usage abuse?

We HIGHLY suggest you add billing & usage limits on the platforms of your API keys to prevent against excessive usage.

How can I make it not answer certain questions?

Within your behaviour instructions, you can tell it to ignore other topics and certain questions. How easily your bot can cave depends on the model & provider.

How much can it remember?

These bots are not designed for long conversations. They can remember around 3 messages at a time and will not hold extensive information about the topic covered. We may allow memory modifications in the future to allow for longer conversations.

Is this private?

Baud does not see or collect messages that are sent by users or by the bots. Depending on your AI provider, you may have data sharing enabled. Research whether or not this occurs to ensure all usage is 100% private.

Channels within servers are automatically ignored. You must run the /toggle command within said channel to activate it to recieve responses from the bot.

Any bots that are used to break the TOS will be suspended alongside your access to Baud and other instance types. The usage of these bots MUST follow Baud & Discords at all times. See a bot breaking the rules? Run /help to find the report link.
